Following is that the basic window which you get once you start the Word application. Let us to understand the varied important parts of this window.

Quick Access Toolbar: This is a customizable toolbar that you can place above or below the Ribbon. This is designed to give you fast access to the commands you use most commonly.

File Menu: File menu covers commands relating to the handling of files, such as open, save, print, etc. It may also contain a list of recently modified files.

Ribbon: Ribbon contains commands prearranged in three components −
    · Tabs: These appear across the top of the Ribbon and include groups of related commands. Home, Insert, Design, Layout, References, Mailing, Review and View are the examples of ribbon tabs.
        ·  Groups − They organize related commands; each group name appears below the group on the Ribbon. for instance , group of commands associated with fonts or group of commands associated with alignment, etc.
        ·  Commands − Commands appear within each group as mentioned above.

Dialogue Box Launcher: This appears as very small arrow within the lower-right corner of the many groups on the Ribbon. Clicking this button opens a panel or task pane that gives more options about the group.

Title Bar: This lies within the middle and at the highest of the window. Title bar shows the program and document titles.

Zoom Control: Zoom control allows you to concentrate for a better check out your text. The zoom control consists of a slider that you simply can slide left or right to concentrate or out; you'll click the + buttons to extend or decrease the zoom factor.
